Barbara Meikle "Dance Partners"

$4,200.00

36x24", 37.5x25.5" framed, Oil on canvas

I had set up to paint at Jenny Lancaster’s ranch in Taos,NM and was planning on painting her riding one of the horses she was training. I quickly started filming when I saw that the horse had never seen a painting easel before, and probably thought I had 5 legs! He danced and rolled back and sidepassed back and forth, and Jenny stayed with him all the way, she was seamless in her encouragement and calmness for this horse. He kept his eyes and ears on me the whole time, until he was able to enter the arena and realize he was in good hands…she ended the session by riding him backwards and lying down on top of him, so I think he gained a lot of confidence that day!
