Teresa Vito "The Tooth Wrangler"

$5,800.00

30” x 30” oil

Early evening after feeding the cows, we had to get back to Christine's parent's homestead for a traveling vet appointment as her old horse Blue was having troubles. One of his problems were his teeth were too long and cutting into his gums. I have never witnessed this floating of teeth and it was wild and amazing. Dr. Laura Blanton has a 100 mile radius for her services and is a good friend of Chrisine Loudon who I was staying with. After witnessing Blue receive a cocktail of horse tranquilizer, he was put in this head harness. His feet are splayed in the painting as he was very loopy and his tongue was just hanging out. The entire family was there watching and goaded me into touching Blue's tongue which everyone got a kick out of, including me. When Dr. Laura opened a trunk filled with stainless steel medeval looking torture devices and pulled out this drill and put this bit on it that was over a foot long, we gasped. She was laughing. I have a great photo of her in that moment. Anyway, I watched this whole happening while taking tons of pics and will never forget it. Being in this show exposed me to things I have never experience and I believe I have made true friends. The painting is composed in a triangle and took a very long time because I used about 10 photos that I put together. Christine is in front bending to watch Blue. Truley a Norman Rockwell moment if he were out West.
